  • A few personal observations about why I like Tony Robbins, what I learned from him, and why I included his work in this website.

Who is Tony Robbins?

Arguably, Tony Robbins is today’s most colorful figure in self-help, self-improvement, and personal development. Over the last 30 years, he generated a world-wide following with a larger-than-life presence, a gift for communication, and once-in-a-generation charisma.

Tony Robbins (born Anthony Jay Mahavorick on February 29, 1960 in Glendora, California) showed flair and promise for big things early in life. An aspiring sports writer in high school, he secured interviews with high-profile figures such as Joe Namath and Howard Cosell.

He had a troubled family life.  Tony left home before finishing high school. However, he did eventually get his diploma.

At only 17, he started in the seminar industry by promoting Jim Rohn events. Later, he led his own seminars based on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).

In 1983, Robbins learned how to fire walk from Tolly Burkan, the “father of firewalking.” That same year, Tony designed his own programs featuring a signature fire walk.

Tony promotes and conducts seminars including:

  • Unleash the Power Within.
  • Date with Destiny.
  • Wealth Mastery.
  • Mastery University.
  • Business Mastery.

His books and recordings include:

  • Unlimited Power.
  • Awaken the Giant Within.
  • The Ultimate Edge.
  • Personal Power.
  • Power Talk!
  • Mastering Influence.
  • Love & Passion: The Ultimate Relationship Program.
  • The Time of Your Life.

His events combine elements of education, experiential impact, and a rock concert atmosphere. Between his books, recordings, and events, Tony claims to have reached over 4 million people in live seminars and an overall total of 50 million people in 100 countries over his career.

Not surprisingly, he inspires both raving fans and raving detractors. Both come with his unprecedented visibility and celebrity status.

Tony played himself in the Jack Black comedy “Shallow Hal” (2001). Others appearances include “Reality Bites, Roseanne,” and “The Sopranos.”

In addition, Tony shot six episodes of “Breakthrough with Tony Robbins.” However, NBC cancelled the show due to low ratings.

His books and infomercials feature stories and/or appearances by celebrities from politics, sports, and entertainment.

Tony is spearheaded the Anthony Robbins Foundation, a charity that helps students, prisoners, and organizes food drives.

Among other notable points:

  • Tony owns the Namale resort in Fiji.
  • He delivered one of the top 10 TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) talks.
  • He is currently involved in The Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention.

Since 2001, Tony has been married to Sage Robbins.

Why I Like Tony Robbins, What I Learned from Him, and Why I Included Him in this Website

I like Tony Robbins because he understands the mind and communicates that understanding in his own inimitable and, arguably, “over-the-top” fashion. Well, can we agree that Tony is not exactly shy and retiring?

Seriously, he is likely the best psychologist of my success experts. As I see it, this is because he combines the ideas he learned from Jim Rohn and the essentials of NLP. The result is his singular and unique brand.

The most important thing I’ve learned from Tony Robbins is the difference between advice and transformation. Self-improvement authors with good advice abound. What makes Tony Robbins unique is that he understands the mind and helps people embrace good advice and effect lasting change.

I included Tony Robbins among my success experts because some of his videos demonstrate this transformative process. He can effect change on the spot. And change is what self-improvement and personal development is all about.

Video #1 – Tony Robbins Quotes: Fast, Sure Way to Success

In the first video, I have compiled four Tony Robbins quotes relating to one of the cornerstones of his teaching: If you want to be successful, model someone who is already successful. In essence, success is a matter of cutting and pasting success attitudes from a worthy and successful source into your own mind.

Here are the quotes in this video:

  • You always succeed in producing a result.
  • If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.
  • Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.
  • Personal power involves producing success through modeling what works and taking consistent action towards your goals. At the same time, you have to internalize behavioral and belief changes in order to take the necessary action to produce the results. It’s been said that successful people do what others won’t, and that if you believe you can or you believe you can’t, you’re right. Both of those statements are true.

Video #2 – Tony Robbins Quotes: Your Personal Success Secret

Tony Robbins teaches that we draw motivation from one of two frameworks. We move toward pleasure or we move away from pain. In either case, as you tap the orientation that works for you, your odds of success skyrocket.

Here are the quotes in this video:

  • The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you’re in control of your life. If you don’t, life controls you.
  • The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our behaviors.
  • In life you need either inspiration or desperation.
  • My definition of success is to live your life in a way that causes you to feel a ton of pleasure and very little pain – and because of your lifestyle, have the people around you feel a lot more pleasure than they do pain.

Video #3 – Tony Robbins Quotes: Take Massive Action

Tony Robbins uses the phrase “massive action” a lot. After all, nothing happens unless you do something. No doubt, you have heard about the importance of taking action many times. However, Tony Robbins has some powerful insights that shine a new light on this issue and reveal why Tony Robbins is.. well… Tony Robbins.

Here are the quotes in this video:

  • The path to success is to take massive, determined action.
  • Action is the foundational key to all success.
  • You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.
  • Success comes from taking the initiative and following up … persisting … eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?

Video #4 – Tony Robbins Quotes: Power of Decision

In this fourth video, I have assembled Tony Robbins quotes about the power of decision. This is the theme of one of his signature events and a subject upon which Robbins places great importance. His message is simple: Make a decision, take action, and shape your destiny.

Here are the quotes in this video:

  • It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.
  • It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.
  • Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, here is an opportunity for you to celebrate like never before, my own power, and my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.
  • Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.
  • A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.

Tony Robbins Quotes

The path to success is to take massive, determined action.

Success is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want.

The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you’re in control of your life. If you don’t, life controls you.

Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.

Success in life is the result of good judgment. Good judgment is usually the result of experience. Experience is usually the result of bad judgment.

Personal power involves producing success through modeling what works and taking consistent action towards your goals. At the same time, you have to internalize behavioral and belief changes in order to take the necessary action to produce the results. It’s been said that successful people do what others won’t, and that if you believe you can or you believe you can’t, you’re right. Both of those statements are true.

If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.

Success comes from taking the initiative and following up … persisting … eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?

There’s no abiding success without commitment.

In life you need either inspiration or desperation.

Live with passion!

Passion is the genesis of genius. People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.

If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.

I think there’s a difference between  I Can  and  I Am.  And  I Am  is really the goal that I’m looking for, rather than  I Can.

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow.

Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.

Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that dis empowers them or one that can literally save their lives.

The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them you immediately begin to create momentum.

The most important rules that I ever adopted to help me in achieving my goals were those I learned from a very successful man who taught me to first write down the goal, and then to never leave the site of setting a goal without first taking some form of positive action toward its attainment.

I’ve continued to recognize the power individuals have to change virtually anything and everything in their lives in an instant. I’ve learned that the resources we need to turn our dreams into reality are within us, merely waiting for the day when we decide to wake up and claim our birthright.

One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus, we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.

Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.

Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards. When people ask me what really changed my life eight years ago, I tell them that absolutely the most important thing was changing what I demanded of myself. I wrote down all the things I would no longer accept in my life, all the things I would no longer tolerate, and all the things that I aspired to becoming.

I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people, who live what they teach, who walk their talk. We are the only beings on the planet who lead such rich internal lives that it’s not the events that matter most to us, but rather, it’s how we interpret those events that will determine how we think about ourselves and how we will act in the future.

The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce outstanding results.

We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish.

When people are like each other they tend to like each other.

Take control of your consistent emotions and begin to consciously and deliberately reshape your daily experience of life.

Want to learn to eat a lot? Here it is: Eat a little. That way, you will be around long enough to eat a lot.

Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, and be weird. Go out and screw u! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes, find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect, just be an excellent example of being human.

You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever, the very next person who you stand behind in line or sit next to on an airplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you’ve been waiting for to fall into place.

If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.

You see, it’s never the environment; it’s never the events of our lives, but the meaning we attach to the events – how we interpret them – that shapes who we are today and who we’ll become tomorrow.

I’ve come to believe that all my past failure and frustration was actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy.

Once you have mastered time, you will understand how true it is that most people overestimate what they can accomplish in a year and underestimate what they can achieve in a decade!

There is no such thing as failure. There are only results. You always succeed in producing a result.

If you can’t, you must. If you must, you can.

Because the challenges will continue to show up in life, but if you have the inner strength – whether that be your faith, your determination or your incredible love for self, for God and for others – then I think you’ll have the capacity to live a life that’s extremely fulfilled.

Whatever happens, take responsibility.

The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Communication works for those who work at it.

You are now at a crossroad. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.

To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.

What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.

And my personal belief is that the only thing keeping you from freedom is all the beliefs you have about what has to happen before you can be there.

All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs.

The truth of the matter is that there’s nothing you can’t accomplish if beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and crate a meaning that dis empowered them or one that can literally save their lives.

I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life’s greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret.

Stay committed to your decisions; stay flexible in your approach.
Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision.

The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment.

There’s always a way – if you’re committed.

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I’m committed to? Commit to  CAN I!  – Constant And Never-Ending Improvement.

Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives.

You might say what if I screw up? Then screw up big! Go for it! Do a big screw-up!

It’s not knowing what to do, it’s doing what you know.

Remember, a real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.

The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck.

I also remember the moment my life changed, the moment I finally said,  I’ve had it!  I know I’m much more than I’m demonstrating mentally, emotionally, and physically in my life. I made a decision in that moment which was to alter my life forever. I decided to change virtually every aspect of my life. I decided I would never again settle for less that I can be.

You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.

Action is the foundational key to all success.

It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.

Put yourself in a state of mind where you say to yourself, here is an opportunity for you to celebrate like never before, my own power, and my own ability to get myself to do whatever is necessary.

Using the power of decision gives you the capacity to get past any excuse to change any and every part of your life in an instant.

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.

For changes to be of any true value, they’ve got to be lasting and consistent.

In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.

Determination is the wake-up call to the human will.

Surmounting difficulty is the crucible that forms character.

The truth is that we can learn to condition our minds, bodies, and emotions to link pain or pleasure to whatever we choose. By changing what we link pain and pleasure to, we will instantly change our behaviors.

More than anything else, I believe it’s our decisions, not the conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny.

Why do people persist in a dissatisfying relationship, unwilling either to work toward solutions or end it and move on? It’s because they know changing will lead to the unknown, and most people believe that the unknown will be much more painful than what they’re already experiencing.

The quality of your life is the quality of your relationships.

Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something, they are trying to find someone who is going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take.

There is always a way-if you’re committed.

There are different points of view about how to approach this experience of ultimate ecstasy, as some people describe it, or ultimate nirvana or ultimate fulfillment.

We will act consistently with our view of who we truly are, whether that view is accurate or not.

It not knowing what to do, it’s doing what you know.

Your beliefs determine, to a large extent, the limitations you impose on yourself. Change your beliefs, and you’ll change what you can and cannot do.

Inspiration feeds off of contribution. When you get inspired, and then you contribute, you set in motion an endless cycle of inspiration-contribution-inspiration that only you can stop.

It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute… that gives meaning to our lives.

It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.

Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more.

Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life’s deepest joy: true fulfillment.

You can’t always control the wind, but you can control your sails.

We are the only beings on the planet who lead such rich internal lives that it’s not the events that matter most to us, but rather, it’s how we interpret those events that will determine how we think about ourselves and how we will act in the future.

Life will pay whatever you ask of it.
