Here is a summary of this Jim Rohn Quotes video and a comment.

Jim Rohn relates his “Girl Scout Cookies” story.

At 25, Jim Rohn answers the door and a Girl Scout pitches Girl Scout cookies. They are only $2. Rohn doesn’t have the $2.

So he says he already has plenty. He closes the door and says to himself “I don’t want to live like this anymore.”

“This will never happen to me again.”

Shortly afterwards, he met Earl Shoaff.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Shoaff taught Jim Rohn simple lessons.

This is all the company pays… you.

You don’t have to work on the company. You have to work on… you.

Things cost too much. You can’t afford them!

He called it “personal development.”

If you want things on the higher shelves, you stand on the books you read.

Success is something you attract by the person you become. Success is nothing you pursue.

Become an attractive person.

Profits are better than wages. Wages make you a living. Profits make you a fortune.

Get up not to just pay the rent. Get up to make a fortune.

Your income is directly related to your philosophy not the economy.

Don’t search for the exotic until you have discovered the basic.

Here’s the most important point:

“This will never happen to me again.”

Here is a subtle difference between people that has a huge impact. And it is important to know which of these two mental frameworks makes the greatest impact on you.

Are you the kind of person who gets motivated when you say:

  • This is what I want my bright future to be?
  • This is the dismal past I want to leave behind?

Most likely, Jim Rohn was the latter and not the former. He was probably more motivated to leave the past behind rather than move into a new future.

Most of us resonate with one more than the other. We are wired one way or the other.

This is very important to know. Here’s why.

When you need a spark of extra motivation, you can find it by:

  • Dwelling on the future you are moving towards.
  • Dwelling on the past you are leaving behind.

Almost certainly, one sparks more emotional voltage than the other. Know which one means the most to you and you have a valuable clue about how to super-charge your mind of success.
